Economic stormclouds approach!
Jun 12 2008, 5:55 AM EDT
As I look at my budget expenses and my paycheck and the costs of building my A-Frame I sit here a little worried, no a LOT worried! This is my retirement home, my dream, my sanctuary. I am watching the price of gas spiral up weekly, its costing me a lot more to drive to my customers. My electric company just raised the rates 16% with the blessing of the legislators, the value of my condo is dropping daily, thise is my main savings vehicle to sell when I need the big chunk for the A-Frame, I planned to move in with the girlfriend or get a small apt to devote more $$ to the project. I am looking for a part time job, and I actually am buying lotto tickets, am I getting desparate? Maybe, but the costs of my A-Frame are also increasing, Fred my Dozer guy has to buy deisel, Im gonna need cement trucks soon, this is all going up. I could use a bit of luck, just a bit..

Yes your dilemmia is everyones right now. Just hold on tight. The storm will pass and you should be in good shape. Just keep saving what you can. The A-Frame is the most economical of all buildings. At least that is what I have read. If you don't need to be in a hurry maybe scale back. I am thinking about a pier and post system instead of a walk out basement. That would cut costs dramatically. Then after a few years if you can design it right you could come back and put the basement under. That is what I hope to do. Its just an idea to cut costs. Of course using local lumber will help too. But maybe that is not an option. I am sure if you can piecemeal the building of it you can spead out the costs. Just remember its tough for everybody... maybe some one local to your property needs that 2nd job too and will work for a good deal... just keep your options open!1 out of 1 found this valuable.
